On Thursday 18th of January 125 students and their parents attended our annual academic EMPOWER awards evening. The event was hosted to celebrate academic achievement for the year 2016/17. It was a formal event also attended by Governors and an inspirational guest. The speaker this year was Laura Kennington who is an Adventure Athlete. She spoke about following the path that her heart wanted even though it wasn’t necessarily the easiest path. She gave up her career in insurance to go on adventures funded by writing and speaking. She has cycled, swum and run her way around much of the world; pushing herself to go beyond her comfort zone constantly. Following Laura’s speech our fantastic students received their awards along with a carefully chosen book to challenge their thinking in the future. We awarded prizes for the top 10 students in each group for both attainment and progress and welcomed back 40 of our Year 11 Leavers to celebrate their GCSE success. A fantastic evening for some wonderful students who have a lot to be proud of!
