On the 24th February, a group of year 10 students were selected to visit Emmanuel College, University of Cambridge as part of their elite challenge days’ programme. The girls got to take part in quizzes and ask current students of the University about studying, living and socialising in Cambridge, as well as careers after university. The girls had lunch in the old library and then participated in a debating challenge with other schools from across the country. Two Cambridge PhD students, one researching archaeology and the other biomedical engineering, gave university-style lectures: one about networks of the brain and the other about Assyrian divination. The girls returned to school, full of aspiration and reflection.
