Prison me no way joined Fulham Cross to engage year 9 to look at the consequences of choices that young adults can make. Students watched a youth theatre group production and joined in a debate about making effective choices and the consequences of such choices. Students also undertook workshops on internet and social media safety. Students were given a tour of a prison cell to understand the reality of what actually prison is like and having your privacy taken away from you.
Students were also joined by some prison dogs in training that are actively used to detect drugs, mobile phone and alcohol in prison. Prison me no way examined the issues of anti-social behaviour and also joint enterprise through a very entertaining role play.
The highlight of the day for many students was getting to meet an actual serving prisoners who were able to tell her stories and help students understand the consequence of the choices that they made and the impact not only on her life but her family and friends.
