On Thursday 22nd November, the entire school participated in our termly EMPOWER Day! Our EMPOWER Days occur once a term and give the entire school a break away from the timetable to participate in various activities.

Our Year 7 students went to the Lyric Theatre in Hammersmith to watch Dick Whittington – it was an amazing experience, made even better as Head of English, Mr Kennedy, was dressed up as a dame and taken onto the stage! After the panto had ended, the girls then receive a Comedy Acting Workshop by the characters from the play!

Next up, were the Year 8s who stayed stayed onsite and participated in various Team Building Activities, orchestrated by Explore Outdoor. The girls were taught team building, communication and organisational skills with their various activities – from Mine Sweeper to Nuclear Fallout!

Our Year 9 students went to London Zoo where they got to look at ‘Confiscated Coral’, visit ‘Little India’, hold Charlie the Madagascan Hissing Cockroach and make donations to the conservation of gorillas!

Year 10 girls were also onsite and spent the day having work experience training with ‘Making the Leap. We had employers from HSBC, The Telegraph, Hedley May and Antin giving interview advice and tips for the girls – gearing them up for their two week work experience which began on 3rd December.

Last, but by no means least, our Year 11 students visited the Thames Young Mariners. Despite the cold, our girls learnt to be brace and to take risks by participating in various outdoor activities, such as canoeing, bell boating, raft building, team tasks and woodland skills.

Everyone had a fantastic day and we were so impressed by the behaviour and conduct of our girls, whether they were on or off site. We look forward to celebrating EMPOWER in the Spring Term!
