On Thursday 22nd October, the Foodie Club, a group of Year 7, 8 and 9 students, Ms. Hosp and Ms. McBlain visited an Italian restaurant, II Mascalzone, in Putney. This is a club which encourages students to explore the diverse and ever-changing multi-culturalism in London. It is an opportunity for students to expand their horizons, manage a budget and research travel and restaurants to prepare themselves for life outside of secondary school.
Each student had £15 budget to try different foods they had not tried before. Some braved rocket or pesto, while others ventured into more daring territory of prawns and mussels. Many were nervous to start with but after pleasant chats while waiting for our food, everyone admired the beautiful dishes laid before them. The whole table got silent as people tasted their succulent dishes. Fears of names and unknown tastes aside, the girls had a brilliant trip and felt more confident to broaden their tastes.
